The New Plan

Today we saw our oncologist. The last time we saw him was in the hospice home and he said there was nothing more he could do. Today, we were all smiles. He was very excited about the new drug and said "You couldn't make a better drug for Cassandra." After a quick visit where he asked Cassandra how she felt, we went up to the chemo room to get her IV treatment. (Her new drug is not chemo, that's just what they call the room.)

The new plan is to get 2 treatments of Keytruda and see how Cassandra is feeling. If she is seeing signs of improvement, then we continue with the last 2 treatments. After all 4 treatments we will get a scan to see what is happening. If Cassandra has not improved after 2 treatments, we will then get a scan to see if the drug is working. If her cancer has progressed, we will stop the treatments since the drug isn't working.

The good news is we should find out pretty quick what is happening. In the next couple of weeks I fully expect Cassandra to have less pain and pressure in her head. After she starts feeling some pain relief we can start to work on other things like getting her walking and reading again.

Cassandra has already stated some of the things she wants to do when she feels better. She continues to stay very positive about the future.

Thank you all for your continued support!
Eric

  9. Well Miss Cassie, Fall is just around the corner. The air will be brisk, the pumpkins out (maybe the pumpkin man again) and the divine smell of pumpkin pie, apples & cinnamon here once again. It's my favorite time of year!!! I remember last year there was the "Great Pumpkin Spice M&M" hunt...and yes they were found, in Springfield, MO...just for you and we can see them all on your kitchen table from your 10/4/13 blog...you & Elliott surrounded by them. This is just to remind you how far you've come & how far you can go!!! Believe in yourself, you can and will get through all this because you're braver than you believe and stronger than you seem right now. All of your friends & family know how hard you fight and realize you get tired and that is all okay!!! In one of my darkest moments, my Granny once told me Courage does not always roar, sometimes Courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying......"I will try again tomorrow"!!!! Please, just tie the knot and keep trying everyday and we'll keep holding the rope and asking God to give you the "Miracle" you so deserve!!!! You have a wonderful loving husband by your side and a sweet little boy, Elliott along with your family and all of us that all continue to love & support you!!!! I'm hoping you're having & Good Day and God Bless you all!!!

  14. Girl, Superman don't have a thing on you. Well maybe he does, he can fly and we haven't seen you do that yet. You have inspired so many of us with your story while all of the time being so positive, just unbelievably incredible. You know Halloween is coming up and we were wondering what we were going to do this year? Your dad tells us your taste buds are changing and Pumpkin M&M may not be your favorite any longer. So you need to be thinking about it and let us know what you want the-- sky being the limit because we have connections from Madison Co. all the way to China. So what sounds good to you this year? Cassandra, hang in there. We all are constantly praying for you and your family so we know he is listening. None of us can even imagine what you have had to endure but we all have faith the Lord has brought you this far for a reason.
    LUV YOU
